BADLAB is an independent UK automotive design and development business focused on creating distinctive components for restomods, modified cars, motorcycles and motorsport.

Combining carbon fibre and composites, bespoke upholstery, integrated technology and specialist fabrication, BADLAB is being built around one simple idea: enhancing the cars and bikes we love without losing the character that makes them special.

THE STORY

BADLAB was founded by JB, bringing together a lifelong enthusiasm for cars, motorsport, design and making things.

From competing in rallycross and covering motorsport through journalism and interviews, to developing custom cars and learning advanced manufacturing techniques, BADLAB represents the next chapter of that journey.

It’s also about building something with a wider purpose: creating a sustainable, independent business around creativity, craftsmanship and a passion for driving.

Living with chronic illness and neurodivergence has helped shape that ambition — developing a different way of working while continuing to pursue motorsport and the things that matter.

BADLAB is starting small, developing skills, refining processes and creating original products with the ambition of growing into a specialist automotive manufacturer.

Alongside our own products, we’re developing a carefully selected range of specialist motorsport and performance components from established manufacturers.

Our aim is to make BADLAB a useful destination for enthusiasts building, restoring and improving their vehicles.

DEVELOPED THROUGH THE BUILD

Product development sits at the heart of BADLAB.

Our Mazda RX-8 DEV01 is the principal development vehicle, bringing together a V8 conversion, carbon components, bespoke interior design, integrated electronics and track-focused engineering.

Our Saxo rallycross project provides a further connection to competition and practical motorsport applications.

Future development will extend into additional platforms, including Lotus and custom motorcycles.

These projects provide opportunities to develop, refine and demonstrate the components and ideas behind BADLAB.

WHERE WE’RE GOING

BADLAB’s ambition is to grow from a small independent workshop into a recognised specialist manufacturer of beautifully considered automotive components.

From carbon interiors and discreet modern technology to bespoke upholstery, composite bodywork and motorsport equipment, the goal remains the same:
